Who else loves fall as much as I do? There’s so much to love about it! I thought it would be fun to do the Fall Favorites Tag video to share with you some of the things that make this season so awesome. Click here to check out the video!
When something as momentus as an engagement happens, it seems only natural to commemorate that time. You want to remember that feeling shortly after you say yes, when everything is so exciting, and before the stress of wedding planning kicks in. What better way to commemorate such a celebration than with a photo session with your new fiancè? Besides having beautiful photos to look back on, there’s also a practicality to an engagement photo session–it gives you a chance to try out a photographer for the big day and you’ll end up with pictures that you can use in your save-the-dates and wedding website. Christopher and I knew right away that we wanted photos–we just had to make it all come together!
When it came to the venue, I took to Google and searched Sacramento-based photographer’s engagement sessions to get some ideas. There are some good ol’ standbys in my area where many an engaged couple have had their portraits taken–McKinley Park, The Rose Garden at Capitol Park, Old Sacramento–but Christopher and I wanted something a little different and we were willing to travel out of town to get just the right place. Upon some more searching, I discovered Bywater Hollow Lavender Farm. Located in Lincoln (about a 40 minute drive from Sac), this farm boasts beautiful trees and open fields, a sweet lake, a wishing well, and lots of charm. It looked absolutely perfect!
The owners of Bywater live on the property and offer their space for photo shoots after hours for a minimal fee. After a few messages, we booked the site for a session in late June. That took care of the venue, now for the photographer…
Enter Christina Best. We met at a blogger event earlier in the year and when it came to our engagement photos, I knew I had to book her. Christina’s got a lovely, bubbly energy and her photos are well, the best (see what I did there?) Luckily she was free that day and we ended up having a wonderful time on the farm taking photos. She had some very creative and fun ideas for the shots, and she was able to make Christopher and I feel so comfortable, which really comes across in the photos. I highly recommend her if you’re looking for a photographer in the Sacramento/Northern California area!
My fiancè and I are beyond happy with the photos and I know they’re going to be something we cherish for years to come. Enjoy!
After taking some time to focus on my YouTube channel, I am so very happy to dust off the old blog and reintroduce Thrift Your Heart Out to the world! I started writing this blog back in 2012 as a way to share my love of thrifting and encourage the masses to shop secondhand. Now, 5 years later, I’m happy to see the thrift industry thriving and shoppers proud to show off their preloved items. It seriously makes my heart sing. Thrifting is something I started doing as a hobby as a teenager, which now has grown to a passion and a way of life. I’ve committed myself to buying only secondhand clothing, shoes, and accessories to fill my closet and why wouldn’t I? There are beautiful, unique, and wallet-friendly pieces out there, just waiting to be found. I’m eager to share with you outfits that I put together using secondhand items, lookbook and haul videos, and other musings on my love of all things secondhand. Welcome to Thrift Your Heart Out.
